Dinning in Costa Rica is a real breath of fresh air. Most restaurants and eateries are so laid back and cozy that you'll feel right at home straight away. A good restaurant to start of with would be Restaurante La Yunta located in Puntarenas. Said to be one of the best steakhouses in the area, this wooden building not only boasts great steaks and seafood cooked in almost a dozen ways imaginable, but a panoramic view of the ocean while you dine.

The next restaurant embodies both the food and the spirit of what it means to be local. Delicias de Mi Tierra, or translated literally as "Delicacies of my land" serve traditional favorites around here. Cascado Campesino (stewed beef and rice served with corn and beans and plantains) which is usually the main course and the most filling. If you can't decide what to order, go for the parrillada de campo (a typical country barbeque) which comes with grilled meats of different kinds, salad, plantains and rice. If you love tortillas, fiesta de gallos would be your entradita (entrée), with a whole platter of corn totillas and dozens of fillings. Located in Alajuela just west of the Barrio San Jose Church, this place is certainly one not to be missed.
